Over one hundred and ten  contingents again have departed kogi State for three months Agriculture training on Soilless Laboratory Farm Program in Abeokuta, Ogun State.



The Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security,Timothy Ojoma while  addressing the forth contingents  in Lokoja said more than three hundred Kogi State youths who have successfully completed a rigorous three 3-month training program at the Soilless Farm Lab in Abeokuta, Ogun state.



The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Abdulsalam Sagir said the trainees  are carefully selected from the three senatorial districts of the state, for a transformative journey to acquire innovative agro-business skills and modern farming techniques.


He added that Soilless Farm Lab training program has proven to be highly successful, equipping participants with practical knowledge in technologies  controlled farming systems,and Greenhouse management. 


The commissioner  while highlighted the benefits of greenhouse farming over traditional methods, promoting efficiency and sustainability in agriculture.


According to the Commissioner , the key feature of the program is the Smartcard Partnership, which is  aims at empowering  the trainees to become successful entrepreneurship.


He maintained that the participants will receive essential tools, mentorship, and resources to support their agricultural ventures and contribute to the growth of the Agriculture sector in Kogi State.


Ojoma  emphasized Governor Usman Ododo’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for farmers in the  state to reduce hunger, adding that the initiative is a strategic move towards establishing Kogi State as a center of agricultural excellence and enhancing food security, and generating sustainable job opportunities for the youth.


The Commissioner advised  contingents to be good ambassador of the state re-assured the returnees of the government’s unwavering support, promising continued collaboration to ensure their newly acquired skills are effectively utilized for the  progress of the state.



In his remarks, member of the State House of Assembly representing-Ajaokuta constituency Jibrin Abu commended the State government for given younger generations an opportunity to be trained on Soilless Lab agriculture farming to boost maximum production.


In


their  separate remarks, participants from Ofu local government area,  Joseph Michael, from the West,  Suleiman  Hussena and Adija Ibrahim commended  the state government for the initiative and promised to be good ambassador of the state by focusing on what they went  for and contribute meaningfully to  agriculture farming to ensure food sufficiency in the state
