It was a total political shutdown in Odu Ward II, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, as Hon. Ibrahim Akiti among others political leaders and a strong APC Juganor (popularly known as Ibro Akiti) led over thousands of decampees from opposition parties into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event was witnessed with entire community was agog with jubilation, drums, and chants in celebration of what has been described as a historic political realignment in the area.
The people gathered at the Odu Ward II community Public Square, drew a large crowd of party faithful and supporters, youth groups, women organizations, and political stakeholders from across the local government.
Receiving the decampees on behalf of the State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the State Auditor General, His Excellency Alhaji Yusuf Yakubu Okala, expressed immense satisfaction with the turnout, describing it as a testament to the growing popularity and people-centered leadership of Governor Ododo across Kogi State.
Alhaji Okala commended Hon. Ibrahim Akiti for his tireless efforts, grassroots mobilization, and unwavering commitment to the progress of the APC in Dekina LGA. He noted that Akiti’s leadership style has continued to inspire confidence, unity, and hope among the people.
He further urged the new members to see the APC as their new political home, assuring them of equal opportunity and inclusion. He also used the occasion to call on all eligible voters to ensure they register and update their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of future elections, emphasizing that active political participation is key to sustaining good governance.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Hon. Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Hajia Rabietu Okwute,the Executive Chairman of the local government,Hon John Urah Ikani,the two House of Assembly members from the area,APC Zonal Chairman, Hon. Alhassan Ogwu; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization, Hon.Princess Joy Oguche Oguche, as well as several traditional rulers, community leaders, youth leaders, and other political appointees who graced the occasion.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and renewed hope as chants of “APC! Progress!” echoed across the venue, symbolizing a new dawn in Odu Ward II and reinforcing the growing dominance of the APC in Kogi East.
