A Director at the Public Health Department (Malaria Unit) of Kogi State Ministry of Health, Hajiah Suleiman Rafiat Ebun has called for preventive measures to curb maleria.

 


A Director at the Public Health Department (Malaria Unit) of Kogi State Ministry of Health, Hajiah Suleiman Rafiat Ebun has called for preventive measures to curb maleria.


Hajiah Suleiman stated this in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja.


She said the causative agents for transmitting maleria relies on water and called for periodic clearing of stagnant water as well as the clearing of bushes.


The Director who is also an Auditor of the state wing of the  National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives also suggested the use of mosquitoes treated nets which is adjudged as one of the best preventive measure in tropical areas.


Mrs Suliman described Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as a humane leader with deep understanding of the health sector saying the recent approval for the cashback of promotion is commendable.


She however appealed for special consideration in the aspect of renumeration for staff who are usually overstretched due to shortage of personnel, as well as uniform allowance and employment opportunities to cater for the vacuum created by those who have retired.


While acknowledging various interventions of Governor Ododo to religious organizations including the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Mrs Suleiman said the association is proposing to break the upcoming Ramadan Fast with the Governor and his wife.
