e Joint National Association of Persons  With Disabilities (JONAPWD), Kogi State Chapter, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to expedite the confirmation of Dr. Sunday Ojochide Ebune as the substantive Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Lokoja.

The association, led by its chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Daniel Arome, said Dr. Ebune’s confirmation has become imperative following his outstanding performance since assuming of  office in an acting capacity for more than six months.

Arome noted that Dr. Ebune has brought stability, professionalism, and renewed efficiency to the hospital’s operations, fostering harmony among medical professionals and improving service delivery. According to him, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers now operate in a more coordinated and peaceful environment, leading to improved patient outcomes.

He highlighted key interventions under Dr. Ebune’s leadership, including the revitalization and effective utilization of the CT Scan facility, which had previously been underused, as well as enhanced emergency response services at the hospital.

The JONAPWD chairman further emphasized that persons  with disabilities and other vulnerable groups have directly benefited from free and subsidized healthcare services, in line with the healthcare vision of the Tinubu administration.

In addition, Arome urged President Tinubu and the Minister of Health to urgently intervene in the ongoing strike by the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), noting that the industrial action has continued to affect healthcare delivery and disproportionately impacts vulnerable groups, including persons  with disabilities.

“Dr. Ebune has demonstrated sound administrative and management skills, credibility, and professionalism. His leadership has been inclusive, humane, and impactful,” Arome said, adding that the association is fully comfortable with and confident in his leadership.

He stressed that confirming Dr. Ebune would allow him to consolidate ongoing reforms and expand access to quality healthcare for residents of Kogi State and beyond.

Arome assured that Dr. Ebune’s confirmation would not only strengthen the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, but also align with President Tinubu’s commitment to improved healthcare delivery nationwide.

“The President and Nigerians will not be disappointed,” he added.
