CRISIS AT ESTATE SITE AS POLICE ALLEGEDLY SHOOT OLUSCO GROUP STAFF IN ABUJA

  Abuja was thrown into tension on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, as staff of Olusco Group of Companies staged a protest against what they described as police brutality, intimidation, and bias in a land tussle between their company and an individual known as Mr. Pretty Okafor who claimed to be the president of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). The protest followed the shooting of one of their staff members, Mr. Yakubu Lawal Omaye, who was allegedly shot by police operatives a few days ago during a confrontation at the disputed estate site in Games Village, Abuja. Eyewitnesses said the police had stormed the site in an attempt to forcefully hand over the property in favour of PMAN, despite the matter already being before a competent court. NOA launches nationwide campaign to promote government programs, national values, and security awareness in Kogi

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has launched a nationwide sensitisation campaign aimed at promoting national values, public safety, disaster preparedness, and citizen awareness of government programs.  The Director General of NOA, Mall. Lanre Issa-Onilu, inaugurated the campain during a press conference and stakeholders engagement meeting on Wednesday in Lokoja. Represented by Mrs Margaret Yenemi, Issa-Onilu said the campaign aimed at promoting national values, public safety, disaster preparedness, and citizen awareness of government programs.  According to him, it focuses on five thematic areas: government programs, flood mitigation, national security awareness, national values re-orientation, and the Nigerian Identity Project. Kogi bans graduation ceremonies in schools

  The Kogi government has banned incessant graduation ceremonies in basic and secondary schools across the state as part of reforms in the education sector. The decision was announced by the Commissioner for Education, Mr Wemi Jones, during a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja on Wednesday. The government also banned “students’ signing-out” ceremonies in tertiary institutions within and outside the state. Jones said incessant graduation ceremonies in nursery, primary, and secondary schools are prohibited in Kogi with immediate effect. He noted that the practice has become unaffordable, exerting financial pressure on parents and encouraging social ills linked with such celebrations. The commissioner said the ban is intended to reduce parents’ financial burden and encourage more meaningful ways of celebrating pupils’ and students’ achievements. He further announced a new policy requiring parents to provide separate notebooks for classwork and assignments, instead of using textbooks as w...

  The House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services, has commended the Kogi State Government's efforts to revitalize and reposition the primary healthcare sector in the state.  The committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Amos Magaji, gave the commendation on Monday in Lokoja at Kogi Deputy's Governor's office during the team's oversight visit to the state, to evaluate the utilization of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF). Magaji emphasised the federal government's determination to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare services to citizens, particularly at the grassroots level.  He noted that the BHCPF is a critical initiative aimed at improving access to primary healthcare services for all Nigerians, especially the poor and vulnerable. Participants at the training workshop for Head Teachers and Principals of Schools in the State have been urged to use the knowledge acquired  during the training to improve on the teaching and learning process in the state.
