LNRBDA Celebrates World Rivers Day 2025 with Call to Action for Clean Rivers, Healthy Communities

  The Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA), has celebrated the 2025 World Rivers Day with a call to action for the protection and conservation of rivers and ensuring healthy communities. The event, held at River Fomo in Alagbado, Kwara State, brought together stakeholders to highlight the importance of clean rivers and healthy communities. The Managing Director of LNRBDA, Engr. Olumoroti George Olusola, highlighted the authority's operational achievements, including the provision of solar-powered irrigation pumps to over 200 farmers in Kwara and Kogi States.  He also noted that the authority has invested in food security partnerships, flood and erosion control, and modern tools such as drones and hydrological monitoring stations to guide planning and improve productivity. Kogi govt opens registration for students bursary allowance

  The Kogi State Government has commenced online registration for the 2025 bursary allowance for its students, in tertiary institutions across the country. The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones in Lokoja, said the free online registration exercise, tagged: “Ododo Students’ Support Season 2”, had begun on Sept. 29 and would close on Oct. 31. Jones urged students to take advantage of the gesture. The commissioner described the exercise as an improved and transparent registration process. He  reaffirmed Gov.   The Ebira Doctors’ Forum (EDF) has expressed its joy and appreciation to Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for approving a modest motivation allowance for doctors in the state civil service.  The EDF gave the commendation in a statement on Tuesday in Lokoja, jointly signed by its President and Secretary of Dr Zubair Kabiru and Dr Shaibu Moses. Modernizing Livestock Production: Kogi L-PRES Takes a Step Forward with Artificial Insemination Training

  The Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES), has launched a one-week intensive training on Artificial Insemination (AI) for 30 participants, comprising animal scientists, veterinarians, and lead farmers from across the state.  The training is being hosted at the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) in Zaria, Kaduna State. Speaking on the exercise on Monday in Lokoja, Mr Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza Otaru, described Artificial insemination in livestock as a technique for controlled breeding and genetic improvement.
