The Chairman, Kogi State All Progressive Congress (APC)'s House of Assembly Screening Committee, Professor Nuhu Mohammed Jamiu has described
the just concluded screening of Aspirants contesting for State Assembly as a hitch-free
Professor Jamiu made the remark while speaking with Journalists shortly after the screening at the APC Secretariat in Lokoja.
The Screening Committee Chairman, who was sent from the APC headquarters Abuja, to oversee the screening process in Kogi for the state House of Assembly Aspirants ahead of party primaries, expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the Aspirants conducted themselves.
He explained that the contestants to a very large extent have some common platform that brought about the best in them in a way that it actually simplifies the work.
"it's free, because the contestants have to a very large extent found some common platform that brought about the best in them in a way that it actually simplifies our work. And the screening exercise took place without heat, without difficulty, without rancor." Prof. Jamiu.
Professor Jamiu maintained that the screening exercise was free, fair transparent and without any rancor, saying all the Aspirants scaled through the standard laid down by the party and INEC.
"The National Party sent us to now come and have another look at it. And then the standard was set, and we applied the standard. And I'm happy to report that they have all scaled through that standard that was laid down for the second time." His Voice.
Similarly, the Appeal Committee Chairman, Professor Amatu Dari Dugara said he has been in Kogi State to receive Petitions, complaints or any observation from Aspirants or party members ahead of the APC primaries but none has been received.
Professor Dugara who came from the National Body of the APC Abuja, explained that the absence of petitions or observations
means that Kogi is good to go for primary election.
"Our mission is very simple and clear. Our party has just finished the screening of her aspirants to the Kogi State House Assembly, and we have been here all this while expecting to receive petitions, complaints or any observation made by members of the party. So far, so good. None has come. It means Kogi is good to go for primary election." Prof. Dugara.
The appeal Chairman expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the screening and commended leadership of the party in Kogi state especially the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the state party Chairman, Engineer Ezzu Aliyu Momoh and members of the screening committee for ensuring a transparent and rancor free exercise.
"I'm the chairman of the appeal committee. I'm sent from Abuja. We are three members in the committee and we are all satisfied with what is happening because nothing has been brought before us as a form of complaint. The leadership of the states led by the party chairman and of course the overall leader of the state the governor, he has done very well, he has been able to bring the people together and there is no any. It is a rancor free screening and i believe it's going to be ramco free primaries. He said.
