Kogi State Govt has been urged to investigate the recent killing in Bassa LGA

Kogi State Government have been called upon to investigate the recent killings of five indigenes of Bassa Local Government Area. The Spokes person of the Arenge Clan, Comrade Huleji Bikwo made the appeal while speaking with Newsmen after condoleing with family members of the deasese at Sheria Community of Bassa Local Government Area. Comrade Huleji Bikwo expressed shock on the untimely dead of five indigenes of the area and called on suspected hoodlums to desist for the sake of peace and development of the Local Government Area.  The contractors handlings various categories of works in the Federal Capital Development Authority ( FCDA), Abuja have appealed to the Hon. Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike for immediate payment. Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, has approved over N600 million for the payment of 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Senior Secondary (SS3) students in the State. The State's Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, at a press conference on Tuesday in Lokoja, said the fund would cover a total of 18,734 SS3 students in public schools in the state.   Jones noted that the WAEC fees payment was inline with the Law for Free Examination Registration Fees for Kogi State Students in Public Primary & Secondary Schools in Kogi State, signed former Governor Yahaya Bello.   The commissioner stressed that the law had made it mandatory for Government to pay for all Internal and External examinations for the pupils in public primary and secondary schools. Mrs Ododo urges pregnant women to prioritise visiting health facilities to reduce complications

The Wife of Kogi Governor, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, has advised pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to always prioritise accessing available health facilities to reduce childbirth complications. Ododo made the call when she visited Kogi Specialist Hospital (KSSH), and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp on Monday in Lokoja. The governor’s wife also donated cash gifts and essential supplies to women who recently gave birth at the IDP camps, in order to reduce the financial and medical challenges they faced. Nigeria’s Electricity power supply collapses again, leaving millions in darkness

For the 8th time in 2024, Nigeria’s power grid collapsed early Saturday, plunging millions of households and businesses into darkness. The incessant collapse has sparked widespread frustration and outrage across the country, with many calling for urgent action to address the persistent power supply crisis. The National Grid, which is managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has experienced 105 collapses in the last decade despite the billions of dollars approved as loans for the electricity sector. Anthrax prevention: L-PRES vaccinates over 200,000 livestock in Kogi

The Kogi Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in partnership with the State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), have vaccinated over 200,000 livestock against anthrax. The State Project Coordinator of Kogi L-PRES, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, disclosed this when he visited one of the vaccination centers in Lokoja. Bolarin noted that the state had made significant strides in combating anthrax through the vaccination of over 200,000 livestock. He explained that the ongoing vaccination exercise was focused on safeguarding cattle, sheep, and goats across the state. He added that 540,000 doses of the Anthrax Spore Vaccines, had been provided for this phase of the vaccination campaign. Niger State wants to pay ₦1m as minimum wage to civil servants - Gov Bago

Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has disclosed his administration's target to pay ₦1 million as minimum wage for the state civil servants. He also announced that his government would pay workers in the state a new minimum wage of ₦80,000. Bago revealed that the decision was taken after an extensive meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the state. “This N80,000 is sustainable. We are sure that with our stride in agriculture, we can pay. We are creating a civil service farm so that civil servants can be productive. With that, we are sure that we can do ₦1 million as minimum wage,” he said. The Governor assured that the new minimum wage would apply to civil servants on the state and local government roasters, noting that the state had already paid October's salary.
