*Contractors Appeal to FCT Minister Wike for payment*



 The contractors handlings various categories of works in the Federal Capital Development Authority ( FCDA), Abuja have appealed to the Hon. Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike for immediate payment.

One of the contractors who spoke with the Confluence news, Mr. Linus Uche stated that,he has been working with the FCDA as a contractor for the past 18 years and with successive administrations without any problem, but since the assumption office of the present minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, life has become unbearable for him as the minister has ordered the abrupt stoppage of payment for all job executed before his appointment despite completion certificate issued by the relevant agencies and that new jobs are being awarded to green horn contractors who have no registration certificate with the FCDA under the pretence of emergency work as all efforts for the minister to see reasons for the payment has not yielded positive result.

Mr Uche appealed to the minister for payment as their banks and other financial institutions are on their necks and interest kept growing on daily basis and in addition to their plights, their children's education is in great jeopardy  for non payment of school fees, among other health related issues occasioned by the sudden removal of fuel subsidy which has worsen the economy of the country.

Another contractor who insisted that she most speak with the media , Hajia Talatu Chiroma collaborated with the earlier speaker and appealed to the minister to pay them as their children could not resume schools and interest rate from their respective banks are on the increase as some of them have developed high blood pressure due to the non payment of their executed contracts.

She stated that new jobs are been awarded to new contractors who do not register with FCT under the pretence of emergency jobs, the practice which she described as new, shoddy and strange .

She appealed to Mr. President to prevail on the minister for the payment as they do not commit any offence known to them.

According to Alhaji Dantata Muhammad who is also a contractor, said Hon. Nyesom Wike is pursuing South -South  agenda as all of the contractors working in the FCT are all his brothers and relatives as this practice negates federal character policy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He equally appealed to Mr. President to prevail on the minister for payment as life has become extremely difficult for them,

he added.

You could recall that, Hon. Nyesom Wike has been acclaimed to be one of the performing ministers in the cabinet of Mr. President, but however, this issue of non payment of contractors is coming at a time life seems difficult for majority of Nigerians as efforts to speak with the permanent secretary of the ministry could not be reached as all calls to his phones could not be answered
