Kogi State Governor Sympathizes with Boat Mishap Victims

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Odod has expressed his condolences to the families of victims who lost their lives in a recent boat accident.  In a statement issued today by the S.A  media to the Governor, Hon Ismaila Isah, the incident occurred when a boat conveying traders from Kogi State to the Katcha weekly market in Niger State capsized along the Dambo-Ebuchi sections of the River Niger. Governor Ododo, who visited the scene of the accident, described the incident as "sad and unfortunate." He noted that most of the victims were women, petty traders, and artisans who were engaged in legitimate business activities to earn a living and contribute to the state's economy. The Association of Residents Doctors (ARD) in the service of Kogi State Government, has expressed their gross dissatisfaction over the non-implementation of the approved new salary structure, CONMESS 2024. The doctors, after an emergency meeting of the association on Friday in Lokoja, also expressed their displeasure over the non-payment of arrears of new minimum wages for October 2024 as promised by the Government.  The ARD President of Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH) Lokoja, Dr Ameh Friday, who spoke to journalists on behalf of the doctors shortly after the meeting, appealed to Gov. The call was made at the 38th Edition of the NA Social Media Seminar organised for Kogi youths in Thursday in Lokoja, with the theme: "Cultivating a Culture of Security Awareness Through Social Media". In their separate remarks, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA), Maj Gen Nosakhare C Ugbo, and the Special guest of honour at the seminar, Maj Gen Adeleke A Ayannuga, both implored the youth to responsibly use social media to promote national security, unity, and progress. Council wishes to inform the general public that Saturday, November 30th, has been declared Sanitation Day in Idah Local Government Area. The Executive Chairman of Idah Local Government Council, Hon. Alhaji Alfa Halilu, invites the general public to join him at Ega Market for a cleanup exercise. This is aimed at setting an example for others to follow and promoting a culture of cleanliness in the community.  As part of efforts to promote cleanliness and hygiene in the community, there will be a restriction on movement on all roads within the local government area from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Lokoja, Nov. 28, 2024 (NAN) Salem University, Lokoja, has conferred awards on five distinguished individuals, including Mr Thompson Yamput, an editor with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and James Onoja, a philanthropist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). World Bank approves establishment of livestock centre in Kogi

The Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES) has been selected by the World Bank as one of five implementing states to host the Livestock Service Centre (LSC). Kogi L-PRES Project Coordinator, Dr Olufemi Bolarin, made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lokoja. Bolarin said that the centre was a flagship initiative under the World Bank-supported L-PRES. Kogi State Council of Arts and Culture has qualified for the second round of Traditional Board game (Ayo) at the ongoing National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST 2024, Abuja). NOA raises awareness campaign on lassa fever outbreak, sensitises Kogi residents

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), on Tuesday commenced sensitisation campaigns in its bid to curb the escalation of Lassa fever plaguing some states in the country. The Ag. State Director of NOA, Mr Patrick Edogbanya, who led a road show campaign in Lokoja, said the exercise was to enlighten the people in order to prevent the disease from infiltrating Kogi. According to him, aside from the roadshow campaign, the Agency has marked Dekina Local Government Area as the venue for the town hall meeting. He added that Dekina was chosen as  a means of taking the campaign to the grassroots as most of the causes of the disease are prevalent in the rural areas. The Director General of NOA, Mall. FG trains 541 youths in modern agric skills The Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, says the Federal Government has trained 541 youths in modern agricultural techniques, to combat unemployment in the country. A statement made available to newsmen by the Director of Press, Ebunoluwa Esan, noted that the minister stated this at the closing of the training programme held at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre in Jos, Plateau State. Olawande disclosed that the training, organised by the Ministry of Youth Development, focused on skills such as cassava processing, beekeeping, and fishery.
