The University Management commended Dr. Onoja, SAN, for his exceptional brilliance, philanthropic efforts and unwavering support for education in Nigeria.
His impactful contributions to the university’s growth and his advocacy for educational advancement were prominently highlighted during the ceremony.
Barrister Moses Alfred Ebute, SAN, was similarly recognized for his noteworthy role in promoting education and his commitment to excellence, further underscoring the university’s dedication to celebrating individuals who inspire and empower their communities.
A significant highlight of the event was the convocation lecture delivered by a renowned Professor, Professor Sam Egwu, titled “Tertiary Education, Citizenship, and Nigeria’s Democratic Development.”
The lecture explored the intersection of higher education and nation-building, emphasizing the role of informed citizenship in advancing democratic ideals.
Responding to the themes of the lecture, Dr. Onoja, SAN, called on the Nigerian government to address issues surrounding citizenship and state of origin.
He urged policymakers to prioritize unity and inclusivity, stating, “We are all Nigerians, and we must do everything possible to unite us as one Nigeria. Practices that marginalize our best talents in public endeavours must be addressed for the nation’s progress.”
