Kogi Govt Conducts Bid Opening for Construction of Livestock Service Center (LSC) Osara Adavi LGA

  The Kogi State Government has taken a significant step towards boosting the livestock sector with the bid opening for the Construction Works Phase 1 of the Livestock Service Center (LSC) Osara Adavi LGA, Kogi State. The LSC construction is one of the key infrastructural components of the Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (Kogi L-PRES) Project, supported by the World Bank.  Speaking at the ceremony on Thursday in Lokoja, the State Project Coordinator of Kogi L-PRES Project, Mr Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza Otaru, said the initiative marks a milestone in the state's efforts to reposition the livestock sector, improve productivity and livelihoods of the livestock farmers and key value chain actors in the state. In a statement on Thursday,  Hajia Ododo described the tragedy as a heartbreaking moment, sharing her grief with the affected families and praying for strength during this difficult period.  She noted that every life lost is a loss to Kogi State, extending her prayers to those who sustained injuries and wishing them a swift recovery.  Her Excellency urged the bereaved families to take solace in the will of God, assuring them of the state's solidarity and compassion.  "May Allah grant the souls of the departed Aljannah Firdaus and grant their families the strength to bear this painful loss," she prayed.

 The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) has placed a ban on low volume alcohol across the country. Kogi State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Pharmacist Benu Mawo Philip who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja said the outright ban which will take effect   from 19th of December is to put an end to production and sales of alcoholic bitters below  two hundred mils in sachets and bottles. He maintained that the decision is to curb the abuse of the products based on financial implications and portability. The coordinator said the ban was to take effect last year but was suspended due to pressure from manufacturer  and other stakeholders. He maintained that the agency as a public health institution will continue to balance between regulations and health in order to safeguard the health of Nigerians. Akoni Care Foundation Gifts 30 Scholarships, 500 Books, 300 Pads to Kogi School

A non‑governmental organization, Akoni Care Foundation, has awarded scholarships to 30 boys of Universal Basic Education Secondary School, Gadumo, Lokoja in Kogi State.  The foundation also donated 500 free books to the students and 300 menstrual pads to the girls, emphasizing proper hygiene and empowerment for both sexes. Speaking to students at the event, the Foundation's Executive Director, Deborah Agbonika, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to the welfare and development of boys and girls.
