Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's intervention in the educational sector has been described as a significant milestone in the history of Kogi State.


Chairman, Kogi State Wing of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Comrade Emejeh Sunday Ogwu stated this while reacting to the commissioning of GYB Model Science Secondary Schools in both Kabba Bunnu and Adavi Local Government Areas of Kogi State.


Comrade Ogwu applauded the government's efforts particularly the free education policy which remain a reference point anywhere in the country.


He also commended him for the construction of the ultra modern schools in both Local Government saying he is quite aware that such project is ongoing at the Government Technical College Idah.


The Unionist however appealed for the upgrades of all schools to an enviable standards emphasizing that school environment with its luxurious trappings, have been a primary source of enchantment to pupils and students in both historical and modern time.


Comrade Ogwu said the Association is aware that about seven hundred schools have been marked for renovation and called for speedy execution of projects to breath freshness to infrastructural decay in schools particularly in rural settlements.


He also called for motivation of teachers across boards, saying the union as solicited a grant of one billion Naira to be utilized as a revolving loans for teachers.


He said previous administration have assisted in giving out lap tops, motorcycles, cars and other household equipment on instalment basis emphasizing that such gestures will go a long way in motivating workers to find fulfillment in their careers.
