Kogi State Govt urges to give unweaving support to young talented sports lovers to enable them excel in their choosen career




Young talented  Sports lovers n the state have been encouraged to put in their best to meet up with the national and international sporting events.


The State Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Abdulrazak Mohammed -Yusuf made the remark in a message to the third Edition of  Basic Education Sports ( BESS)   for Primary Schools under twelve BOYS and GIRLS State Finals for 2022 SUBEB Sports Development Intervention Fund, in lokoja.



The Chairman who was  represented by the Secretary of Board, Alhaji Salisu Adakeke  praised the State Government for organizing the competition, said the sporting activities began to floorish far back under the leadership of the immediate past Governor , Alhaji Yahaya Bello who has laid a solid foundation for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to build on his legacy in sporting activities.


He urged the school's in the state to shun hiring experts into football sporting competition,adding that the ideas would discourage the younger generations not to participate in sporting development.



In his remark, the Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission,  Doctor Hamid Bobbyi in a message to the occasion described Young talented Sports lovers should be given necessary assistance to enable them excel in their choosen career and described sporting activities as the only way to bring ethnic groups of different backgrounds together .


The Executive Secretary who was represented by the kogi State Coordinator of the  Universal Basic Education Commission, Mr Alabi Ajaye used the occasion to called on the state government to continue  to develop interest in the young talented sports loving to grow to represent the state at the national and international competition.


Earlier in her remark, the Director School Services ,Mrs Victoria Daniel said the SUBEB would continue to encourage team spirit of sportsmanship to make beginners  become self- reliance in their future endeavors and  commended the state Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his untiring efforts in making sporting activities to grow to meet the national and international standards 


The competition which drawn participants from three zones in the state of different sporting activities  includes , football match , Out -door and In-door Alteletes, Relay for both boys and girls and Ayoo amongst others.


The competition withnessed presentation of medals and trophy to participating schools from the three zones in the state.
