KSG Reiterates Commitment To Environmental Conservation And Sustainability - Hc Environment By Mariam Adams



Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its  unwavering commitment to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment prioritizing the health and well-being of its citizens.


The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun made this known on Monday during an inspection exercise of designated dumpsite in lokoja metropolis.



The Commissioner while emphasizing the importance of continuous efforts to protecting the state's natural resources and promoting sustainable practices said the "Keep Kogi Clean" initiative is a continuous exercise, aimed at ensuring the state remains free from environmental hazards and promotes sustainable practices.


The Commissioner commended the state government's unwavering commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability, reaffirming the ministry's resolve to continue delivering effective operations that maintains a clean and healthy environment.



He further explained that the inspection was conducted to access the effectiveness of the cleaning exercise, identifying areas requiring improvement and expressed satisfaction with the substantial progress.


Engr. Joseph urged resident to take precautions in disposing of waste properly and adhering to sanitation best practice.



Also speaking during the inspection exercise, The Director Sanitation, Pastor Falodun Vincent said that upon resumption from the weekend,the Commissioner engaged the State Sanitation and Waste Management Board's utility vehicles, as well as hired additional tippers to ensure the environment is scrupulously clean.


This move,he said, is aimed at addressing the surge in waste generation, particularly during the seasonal harvesting of yam, groundnut and maize.


He highlighted the need for increased vigilance in maintaining cleanliness in the state and praised the Commissioner for his swift response towards waste evacuation stating that, it demonstrate his commitment to the well being of the people and the environment
