IFAD-VCDP holds policy dialogue on adoption, effective implementation of Standard weights, measures in Kogi State

The FGN/IFAD Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP-AF), has facilitated policy dialogue on adoption and effective implementation of standard weights and measures in Kogi State. Federal government began payment of the new minimum wage to civil servants.

Federal government has announced readiness to begin the new minimum wage payment to civil servants. This development was disclosed the Spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, told journalists . While addressing journalists  he stated that the employees under the federal government payroll can expect to receive notifications regarding their updated minimum wage salary payments .   However, Mokwa did not clarify whether the minimum wage would be disbursed along with any outstanding arrears. He said, “Federal Government civil servants will start getting the new minimum wage from today(Thursday) this September 2024. ”What I can tell you is that the minimum wage salary payment has begun ,I am not sure of the arrears,”

The Kogi State Government has commended the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for introducing Nutrition into the Nigeria Health Commodities Logistics Management Information System (NHLMIS). The state's Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez Adeiza, gave the commendation during a two-day training workshop on Nutrition Commodities Logistics Onboarding into NHLMIS in Lokoja. The workshop was organised by the Federal Ministry of Health, Kogi State Ministry of Health (SMoH) and State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA) with support from Nutrition International. NOA Sensitises Kogi Riverine Communities on Flood Safety Alert, Urges Residents To Relocate Upland

  The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged communities in flood-prone areas to immediately relocate to highland as Benue and Niger rivers approached danger thresholds. The Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu, gave the advice on Thursday when he led the "NOA Flood Sensitisation and Evaluation Team" to sensitise some reverine communities in Kogi State. The water level of Benue and Niger rivers had risen to about 9.2 meters on September 25, compared to the usual level of about five meters, according to Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). The NOA DG said the release of water from Cameroon's Lagdo Dam could cause a significant flooding and environmental damage in Nigeria especially in 11 States as predicted by the National Hydrological Information Service (NIHSA). A sociocultural group, the Egbira Voice of Nigeria (EVON), has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) alleged persecution of former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.  In a press conference in Abuja, the Convener, Dr Kenneth Enebe claimed that the EFCC's actions were motivated by ethnic prejudice and a desire to humiliate Bello. Kogi State Government has been called upon to provide basic amenities to the people of Gada shagari in Lokoja Local Government Area. The Secretary of Aguma Gada shagari Abubakar  Ahmed made the call while speaking with News men in Lokoja. The Kogi State House of Assembly, has called for the removal of the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, over alleged attacks on Kogi State Governor's Lodge in Abuja. The lawmakers also accused the EFCC of assassination attempt on the former Governor Yahaya Bello and the incumbent Governor Ahmed Ododo, stressing that the persecution of the former governor had gone on for too long and must stop. N-HYPPADEC to revitalise moribund Idah Water-Works in Kogi

The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), has embarked on a technical assessment aimed at revitalising the one-million liter daily capacity moribund Idah Water Works in Kogi State. The Managing Director of N-HYPPADEC, Sadiq Abubakar Yelwa, while speaking at Atta Igala palace in Idah, shortly after assessing the moribund facility, said the intervention was in response to the request by the paramount ruler. According to him, the Atta Igala, HRM Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa, had recently appealed to the commission to help rehabilitate the moribund plant when N-HYPPADEC management paid a courtesy visit to his palace.  Yelwa emphasised the need for the on-the-spot assessment to evaluate the extent of its dilapidation.
