TRIBUTE TO A PRICELESS PATRIOT

Dr Samuel Ilemona Abdullahi JP.

It is with great sense of loss that we receive the painful news of the passing unto glory of Hon.Dr. Samuel Ilemona Abdullahi (Jp) the Chief Medical Director,Ilemona Clinic, Ejule and former Executive Chairman,

 Ofu Local Government Council. 


He attended Secondary School when there were only one in Kabba,one in Okene and one in the entire Kogi-East being GSS,Dekina.


He turned out to become a Medical Doctor, served and retired meritoriously from the Kogi State Health Management Board where he displayed his ingenuity as one of the best Surgeon. 


He decided to give back to the society when he set up a private Clinic called Ilemona Clinic that is more of a charity outfit and a household name.


Hon.Dr.S.I. Abdullahi veered into politics that he keenly contested and won as the Executive Chairman, Ofu Local Government Council under the platform of the popular Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) election on 27th March,2OO4 and sworn into office on the 6th April,2OO4.


The first time I saw him even before he transferred baton of Ofu Local Government leadership to me, Hon. Dr. Eneojo Peters Omachi, I saw the true spirit of simplicity, honesty, godliness and tenderness of heart.


Yes, that day I saw the likes of Hon.Dr. Stephen Achema in him. 

Dr. Ilemona as fondly called in every home, I will always keep in my heart all the life lessons you're very taught us and how much they have impacted my life and that of countless others. 


Your ability to hold yourself with such dignity and pride in all your ways is admirable and your unequal service as a politician with it's attendant beauty will forever continue to shine in all of us who were lucky enough to succeed you as the Executive Chairman,Ofu Local Government Council. This was because as a great pillar who greatly touched many life of families, you remain an unforgettable Medical Doctor and Council Chairman at a very critical and volatile moment in history with embodiment of love and peace everywhere. Dr. Ilemona,your exit is inestimably irreplaceable.


To the family of the Abdullahi, and to the glory of the Most High God, I warmly console and sympathize with this noble family to take solace and that, Dr.Ilemona lived a good life, a life well lived is a precious gift of hope, strength and grace. 


Death takes the body,God takes the soul. Our minds hold memories, our hearts keeps the love, our faith let's us know we will meet again.

While in office,I went through his records as Executive Chairman the moment I assumed office, I saw that his wealth of experience, fame, status and success did not make him lose his focus and humble background, the needs of his family, associates, community, state , nation and above all, God were his watchwords.


 He gave he had during his tenure in office. He was always available for all to be used. He did not discriminate against people on the basis of what is primarily due for you and always share whatever he had with anyone in need. He positively affected the lives of millions of people within and far beyond Kogi State--using Ilemona Clinic as a point of touching lives generally

Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see. That, have been the work of our great father, brother, uncle, mentor and leader. Everyone need a tree to rest on and Hon.Dr.Ilemona Samuel Abdullai was a tree that provided shade for us. 


He would at time say; "it is better to give than to receive, better to listen than to do the talking, better to work hard than to idle away and best, to believe in the Glory of God than to believe in nothing."

This great leader taught us that,"the worth of a human being is not in his cars, clothes, houses but the result if one's hardwork and share together and telling the truth at all times. That, truth is the palm oil with which productive discussions are lubricated. It unites rather than divide; truth strengthen institutions and relationship.

Hon.Dr. Abdullahi isis a baton of truth, peace and a community developer. We are proud to have associated with an intelligent leader like you and by this exemplary qualities, you will forever be remembered.


In our Father's house, there are many mansions, you have only places so that when we come as we surely must, we will be together again to the Glory of God in eternity.

Dr.,your beautiful spirit will be missed.


Thanks for being a great patriot. May God grant your soul rest in the bosom of our Lord.. .
