Hon. Abdullahi Halims Calls for the Dualization of Ajaokuta- Otukpa- Itobe- Anyigba- Ankpa- Okpo road.


The House of Representatives member  from Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims  has called on the Tinubu led Federal Government to urgently consider the construction of a double lane road (dualization) of Ajaokuta to Otukpa via Itobe, Anyigba, Ankpa to Okpo in order to give room for free flow of traffic in the area.

He moved a vital motion on the floor of the House recently. In a well laid down motion, Rt. Hon. Halims said the road has  become a death -trap, it has witnessed several multiple road accidents, and high traffic of vehicular movements in recent years due to narrow nature of the road network of a road constructed in 1985 by the then administration of President Ibrahim Babangida.

He said the dualization of the road will enhance agricultural production, businesses and create high connectivity among the people of this country.

His motion was seconded by Hon. Akin Alabi from Oyo State. Subsequently, to House then resolved and urged the House Committee on Works to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Works to ensure immediate compliance.

This singular move made by Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims on the floor of the House, has attracted massive applause from Nigerians including Alhaji Ayofa Omonu who said, " we are grateful to have you Hon. Halims, we are proud of you" and from Ahmed Abubakar Oguche: "Thank you for this important motion."

It is generally agreed by the constituents that Rt. Hon. Halims represents at the House that the dualization of the road network will ease traffic congestion and reduce carnage on the road.
