Federal and State governments have been commended for given priority to sporting activities.

The Kogi State Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board , Alhaji Abdulrazaq Mohammed Yusuf made the remarks at Flag-off ceremony of the distribution of new purchased Sports equipment worth millions of Naira to be distributed to some selected Schools to improve on sporting activities Lokoja.

Mallam Abdulrazaq Mohammed Yusuf said the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has invested huge financial commitment to Sports activities to enable  it compete favourably with  it counterparts in the country.

He reiterated that the Universal Basic Education Commission  in collaboration with kogi State Universal Basic Education Board would not relent efforts as selected Schools would Catch- Them -Young in sporting talents across the three Senatorial Districts of the State would be a continuous one.

Mallam Abdulrazaq Mohammed Yusuf promised to justify the confidence repose in the board by the present government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

He urged the staff of the Board  to work iterdem with the laid down principle of the board to ensure that the equipment provided would be properly be utilize by the benefiting schools.

The Chairman expressed confidence that government would continue to do more for sporting activities in the state in years ahead.

Earlier, Director, Department of Academic Services SUBEB, Mrs  Victoria Iyabo Daniel assured that the equipment distributed would be properly be utilize to the benefit of the younger generations.

Mrs Victoria Iyabo Daniel explained that about ninety four schools across the three Senatorial Districts would be benefiting while more schools would also benefit in the next action plan.

Mrs Victoria Iyabo Daniel explained that the focus and aim for the purchase of sports equipment is to develop the young talents in schools to enable them compete favourably with their fellow counterparts in the country hence the government has credibility done well for the distribution of sports equipment to selected Schools.

In a remark, the State Coordinator of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Mr Moses Ayeni said the Commission would continue to work in synergy with the SUBEB to enable it meet it target in improving on sporting activities.

Also speaking, the Desk Officer, Adewale Felix commended the state government for the  prompt payment of counterpart contributions which enable the board to embarked on projects that have direct impact on the benefiting schools across the schools described it as the first of it kind

Speaking onbehalf of the Education Secretary, Salifu Ademu commended the state government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for ensuring that the younger generations improved on their talents through the provisions of latest sports equipment in schools in the state.

Iterms purchased for distribution include , football equipment, Table Tennis 🎾 equipment, Badminton equipment, Volleyball, equipment, Scrabble, Chess ♟️, Ayo among others.

Highlight was the dancing entertainment from UBE school organized by their teachers .
