The Commissioner of Solid Mineral and Natural Resources Bashiru Gegu has praised a non-governmental organization, Kogi Projector for Good Governance, for creating a platform that helps young people learn basic skills and contribute to the development of Kogi State.
The Commissioner gave the commendation at a symposium and award ceremony held by the group at the Federal University, Adankolo campus, in Lokoja.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Abdulsalami Hudu Ahmed, Commissioner Bashiru Gegu called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the initiative.
He said engaging youths in positive activities can help reduce crime, promote peace and unity, and create a better environment for businesses to grow.
The Director General of Kogi Projector for Good Governance, Isah David Ohinoyi, said the organization has been active for fifteen years, providing different skills to youths and the less privileged.
He also revealed plans to set up an ICT center to train young people, explaining that technology is essential in today’s world.
The Director General of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Princess Hajia Nana Hawa Yussuf, described the group’s work as noble and deserving of support.
As the Mother of the Day, she assured that the State radio station will continue to help publicize the organization’s activities.
She also encouraged more advocacy visits to individuals and organizations to achieve greater impact.
In the same vein, the Treasurer of Kogi Local Government and Matawale of Igu Kingdom, Abdullahi Yusuf Ohikura, said the group’s efforts help fight insecurity by empowering young people and keeping them away from negative influences.
He urged youths across Kogi State to take advantage of the program and contribute positively to society.
Kogi Projector for Good Governance is a non-governmental organization dedicated to training young people as entrepreneurs, free of charge.
Their programs include dish installation, poultry and fish farming, baking, and event management, among others.
