Kogi Projector for Good Governance has congratulated Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye on his inauguration as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, describing the development as a timely opportunity for renewed leadership and institutional growth.

The organization expressed confidence that the new Vice-Chancellor’s tenure will strengthen academic standards, deepen research and innovation, and improve staff and student welfare.

It observed that while leadership transitions often raise expectations, meaningful progress is measured by consistency, transparency, and the courage to translate vision into practical results that positively affect the university community.

Kogi Projector for Good Governance commended the transparent and merit-based process that produced the new Vice-Chancellor, noting that such procedures help to rebuild confidence in public institutions and promote a culture of excellence within the education sector.

Beyond congratulatory messages, the organization declared its readiness to partner with the new administration in key areas that align with the University’s development agenda.

These areas include youth empowerment through practical skills training to complement academic learning, as well as statewide sensitization on good governance among youths and students across Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

The group stated that equipping students with digital, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills, alongside values of accountability and civic responsibility, will better prepare them for leadership and responsible citizenship.

The organization further stated its willingness to contribute, within its capacity, to the overall progress of Federal University Lokoja through advocacy, community engagement, and constructive collaboration with the University management.

It emphasized that sustainable development thrives when institutions work in partnership with credible civil society organizations that are genuinely committed to long-term impact rather than short-term publicity.

Kogi Projector for Good Governance also noted that the emergence of a visionary Vice-Chancellor presents a valuable opportunity to demonstrate, in practical terms, what good governance looks like in a public university setting.

The group expressed optimism that the new administration will position the University as a model of transparency, accountability, and service to the public, thereby setting a standard worthy of emulation by other institutions across the country.

The organization urged the new Vice-Chancellor to prioritize infrastructural development, campus security, and healthy engagement with the host community in Lokoja, stressing that a peaceful and supportive environment is essential for academic excellence and sustainable growth.

Kogi Projector for Good Governance concluded by reaffirming its commitment to constructive partnership and public-interest advocacy, expressing confidence that leadership anchored on integrity, openness, and collaboration will deliver measurable progress for the University and lasting benefits for Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

Signed:

His Eminence Isah David Ohinoyi, JP
