The National Association of Okun Students (NAOS), FeDeral University Lokoja Chapter has felicitated with Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye on his inauguration as the fourth Vice Chancellor of the academic institution.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration ceremony in Lokoja NAOS President, Comrade Ibrahim Adeshina congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor and wished him a successful tenure.
He expressed appreciation to God for finding him worthy to serve the institution emphasizing that he was overwhelmed with joy for having two Vice Chancellors emerging from Okun nation.
Adeshina urged Okun students to remain a shining light in the academic community and charged them to devote quality time for academic activities.
The President also solicited for more welfare in the aspect of bursary, scholarship awards and acknowledged the contributions of Senator Sunday Karimi in the academic circle.
In a remark, the Speaker of the Association, Comrade Yackson Godwin, who applauded the efforts of the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi towards academic excellence expressed optimism for more innovations that will place the institution on the global map success in research and academic excellence.
He appealed for more cheaper accomodations and transport system to make life easy for indigent students.
Yackson also clamoured for permanent solution to incessant road accident that has cast a dark shadow along Felele axis.
On her part, a member of the Association from the department of Mass Communication, Miss Metibogun Eniola who described Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye as a role model by all standard appealed to the student to shun all forms of social vices.
Similarly, the patron the NAOS who is also the Obadofin of Kiri Kingdom, Oba Josiah Olabiwonnu prayed God grant the VC wisdom to pilot the affairs of the institution.
The traditional ruler appealed to Okun sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora to rally round the VC and offer useful suggestions and support to enable him succeed.
