COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE 8TH PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP) ZONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN IDAH ON 23RD MARCH, 2026

 


The 8th Zonal Executive Committee (Zonal Exco) Meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was successfully held on Monday, 23rd March, 2026, in Idah.


In his opening remarks, the Zonal Chairman, Hon. Igagwu Idris, expressed profound appreciation to members of the Zonal Executive Committee for their unwavering commitment, dedication, and resilience to the affairs of the Party despite prevailing challenges. He urged members to remain steadfast, united, and more committed to the collective task of strengthening and repositioning the Party, emphasizing that unity remains the Party’s greatest strength.



After extensive deliberations, the following resolutions were reached:


1. *Adoption of Zoning Arrangements*


The Zonal Executive Committee considered and adopted the reports of the various zoning committees as follows:

Senatorial Seat: Zoned to Idah Federal Constituency.

Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal House of Representatives: Zoned to Olamaboro Local Government Area and micro-zoned to Imane District.

Dekina/Bassa Federal House of Representatives: Zoned to Dekina Local Government Area.

Idah/Ibaji/Igalamela-Odolu/Ofu Federal House of Representatives: Zoned to Idah Local Government Area.


2. *Ratification of Suspension*


The Zonal Executive Committee ratified the suspension of Mohammed Gambo Sani as recommended by the appropriate Party organs.

The Mozum Ward Executive Committee had earlier suspended Mohammed Gambo Sani following a petition alleging misconduct in violation of Section 58(1)(b) and (h) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).

The suspension was subsequently ratified by the Bassa Local Government Executive Committee and referred to the Zonal Office.

The Zonal Executive Committee, at its meeting of 23rd March, 2026, upheld and ratified the suspension accordingly, pending the determination of the Party’s Disciplinary Committee within 30 days.


*Conclusion*


The Zonal Executive Committee reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, discipline, fairness, and unity within the Party. Members resolved to work collectively towards ensuring the continued growth, stability, and electoral success of the PDP across the Zone.


The meeting ended on a note of solidarity and renewed determination to advance the ideals and objectives of the Party.
