National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Alhassan Yahaya made the call during the Second Biennial Lecture, Award Investiture and Endowment Fund Raising Ceremony of Ade - Bada foundation International in held in  Lokoja 

Comrade Yahaya emphasized the need to focus on ability in disability in line with the country's attempt to actualize Universal Health Coverage.


He appealed to government to accommodate people with special needs in the health insurance scheme assuring that NUJ as a union is also working towards qualitative health care insurance for members across the country.

Earlier in an address, Founder of Adebada Foundation International and the Convener of the Program, Pastor Adeniyi Bada appealed to government to create Ministry of People with Special Needs.

He maintained that talents and skills cannot be eroded through physical challenges but need enabling environment to flourish. 

Similarly, a member of Correspondence Chapel of the Union, Comrade Ibrahim Obasa who represented the State Chairman of NUJ Alhaji Seifu Ademu, Comrade stressed the need to give maximum support for those living with disability.

In his paper presentation, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubarkar Audu University, Professor Johnson Orugun who was represented by Doctor Samuel Ajayi of the same institution  said the event with the theme " United for ability; Changing Disability Narrative":  calls for real attitudinal change.

He said Nigeria has two percent of the world population of those living with disability emphasizing that great leaders like Franklin Roosevelt and others were physically challenged and shape the future if great nations.

Also speaking, the Provost College of Education Ankpa, Fashsgba urged spirited individual and organizations to give unflishing support to those living with disability in the society, adding that they is ability in disability hence they are more proactive in any given opportunity in life whenever they found themselves in the society described Adeniyi Ade - Bada as an epistle in writing despite his challenges.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of award to : State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning Ashiwaju Ashiru Idris, Provost College of Education Ankpa, Doctor Fashagba Femi, State NUT Chairman Comrade Ayoola Abayomi, Chairman Lower Niger River Basin Commission, Engineer George Olumoroti among others
