LOKOJA APC EXECUTIVE PASSES VOTE OF NO-CONFIDENCE ON SEN. KARIMI.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja Local Government Area has passed a vote of no-confidence on Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, the representative of Kogi West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, accusing him of contributing to division within the party and failing to uphold party discipline.

The Lokoja LGA APC added that it will not support the Senator beyond 2027, described his representation as a dismal failure.

The resolution was announced Thursday at a press conference held at the APC Lokoja LGA Secretariat by the LGA Chairman, Hon. Jibril Idris Kassim, following an Executive meeting held earlier the same day.

According to Kassim, the Lokoja LGA Executive reached the decision after a comprehensive assessment of the Senator’s conduct and contributions to both the constituency and the party.

“We note with deep concern the conduct of Senator Sunday Karimi, which we believe has contributed to division and polarization within the APC in the Kogi West Senatorial District. This is despite the concerted efforts of stakeholders to uphold party discipline and respect the zoning arrangement,” Kassim said.

He listed four key grounds for the resolution: failure to acknowledge and work with the party leadership that brought him to power, failure to promote unity and responsible representation, lack of commitment to campaign promises made to Kogi West constituents, and non-adherence to the core values of party leadership and democracy.

“In light of this, we want to make it clear to Senator Sunday Steve Karimi that Lokoja Local Government has lost confidence in him and does not support his aspiration or continuity in office beyond 2027,” Kassim declared.

The Chairman also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his efforts in fostering unity and strengthening the APC structure across Kogi State, and urged APC members in Lokoja LGA to remain peaceful and committed to the party’s growth ahead of the 2027 general elections.
