Yahaya Toto Explains Maikaya’s Withdrawal, Backs Sule’s Endorsed Candidate
A media personality and member of the Maikaya Campaign Team, Yahaya Idris Toto, has explained the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of Dr. Musa Muhammed Maikaya from the Nasarawa State 2027 governorship race, reaffirming his support for the candidate endorsed by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Speaking on Friday while addressing supporters and associates who sought clarification on recent developments, Idris Toto said Maikaya’s decision to contest was initially driven by a genuine desire to contribute to the development of Nasarawa State, particularly in advancing economic opportunities for young people.
He disclosed that all aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, from the western district had earlier agreed during a meeting with Governor Sule to support whoever emerged as the party’s preferred candidate.
According to him, the situation became clearer following the governor’s public endorsement of Wadada, a decision Maikaya accepted in good faith in the interest of party unity and the progress of the state.
Toto stressed that Maikaya’s ambition was never about personal gain or political compensation, but about providing workable ideas and solutions to improve the lives of the people.
“He did not join the race to be compensated. His intention has always been to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of our state, especially in creating economic opportunities for our youths,” he said.
He congratulated Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada on securing the governor’s endorsement and urged supporters to remain calm, united, and focused on the broader goal of ensuring stability and development in the state.
Idris Toto, however, berated some aspirants he accused of delaying in taking a clear position, alleging that their actions were motivated by expectations of political rewards rather than the collective interest of Nasarawa State.
“Those waiting for possible compensation are not acting in the best interest of the state but are driven by personal considerations,” he added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the unity and development of Nasarawa State and called on all stakeholders to place the overall interest of the state above individual ambitions.
