Eid-el-Kabir: Kogi speaker urges sacrifice, prayers for peace
The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Yusuf has urged citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, unity, and prayer for national stability.
In a Sallah message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, the speaker congratulated Muslims across Kogi and Nigeria on the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Yusuf described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred period that reflected the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, faith, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He urged Muslims and Nigerians at large to use the occasion to pray for sustained peace, unity, progress, and economic stability in Kogi and the country as a whole.
The speaker said the period should serve as a reminder of the need for collective commitment to the nation’s well-being.
Yusuf urged citizens to continue supporting the administration of Gov. Ahmed Ododo in its efforts toward good governance, security of lives and property, infrastructural development, and overall welfare of the people.
He further appealed to political leaders, community stakeholders, and citizens to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and compassion for the less privileged during and after the festive period.
“Such acts of kindness and solidarity are central to the spirit of Eid el Kabir,” he said.
Yusuf prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the sacrifices and supplications of the faithful and grants the nation lasting peace and prosperity.
