Mopamuro, Yagba East APC leaders unite behind Abejide’s 2027 Reps bid

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Yagba East and Mopamuro Local Government Areas, have endorsed and signed nomination forms for Leke Abejide,  adopting him as consensus candidate for Yagba Federal Constituency for 2027 House of Representatives elections.

In Mopamuro, APC leaders converged in Lokoja on Sunday for a nomination form endorsement ceremony, unanimously backing Abejide’s return to the National Assembly. 

The event signaled unity and a shared political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.  

Abejide, who resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Friday, to join the APC, purchased his House of Representatives nomination form on Saturday. 

The Key Mopamuro stakeholders present included Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo; LG Chairman, Ademola Bello; State Assembly Member, Olawumi Jacob; and Mopamuro APC Chairman, Olajide Adeyemo.

Other are; State Assistant Organizing Secretary, Arc. Aina Lawal; Kogi West Zonal Youth Leader, Hon. Olusegun Arogbonlo; all Ward Chairmen; and other party leaders.  

Speaking for Mopamuro leaders, Fanwo said the endorsement was driven by Abejide’s outstanding performance and commitment to Yagba Federal Constituency. 

He noted that Abejide’s status as a ranking House member positions him to attract more democratic dividends.  

“Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide has demonstrated capacity, competence, and uncommon dedication to our people. His representation has been impactful,” Fanwo said, 

He cited payment of WAEC and NECO fees for thousands of students, empowerment of women, artisans, and farmers, support for traditional institutions, and capital projects across Yagbaland. 

“He is a blessing to Yagba and Mopamuro people have agreed to identify and associate with him,”  Fanwo said.

Mopamuro LG Chairman, Bello called the development “the dawn of a new era,” saying the consensus reflects the collective will of the people. 

“Our unity today sends a strong message that we are determined to move forward together".
