Kogi State Government has compensated  owners of demolished properties attached to buildings used as criminal hideouts in Idaji, Okene Local Government Area of the State.

Handing over the check to the affected property owners and occupiers in Lokoja today, the Director General, Bureau of Land and Urban Development, TPL Kehinde Augustine Salihu Otaru said there was a security report early this year which led to the demolition of houses involved and shops attached to them.

He explained the the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in his humane disposition ordered for the assessment of the demolished properties for subsequent compensation.

The Director General said the evaluation was done twice to minimize loss during compensation.

TPL Kehinde said the check issued will take care of both the properties and their contents.

He emphasized that the twenty three affected property owners will take seventy percent of the value of compensatition while a flat rate of thirty percent belongs to the occupiers and the goods stock in them.

The Director General urged them to make judicious use if the fund for income generating assets and thankful to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his magnanimity.

Earlier, in his address, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Doctor Bala Negedu said the Director General has been up and doing to see to the success of the day.

He also urged them to be greatful to the Governor for bringing them back on track after the loss.

In a remark, the leader of the group, Alhaji Aliu Asuku Bello who recalled the trauma of the people affected thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for keeping his words.

He described the Governor as a God fearing leader who will go extra miles to ameliorate the suffering of the people.
