Stakeholders Cal's for proactive measures to safety lives and properties he recent ground failure or land slide of the coal site in Ankpa Local government Area, were some of the small-scale miners are trapped in the coal pits is a very serious issue that endanger lives and properties, even some of the trucks lifting the coal also soaked into the pits and trenches.


Ankpa coal block consist of Okaba coal, Ikah, Omala and Olamaboro. 

The coal block is located at the North-eastern part of the Anambra basin which are highly folded into series of anticlines and synclines right away from Enugu coal area of Eastern Nigeria.


 The Anambra basin joins the lower Benue trough around Ogboyaga village, where the trend of coal change westward to  Dekina local government area 
The Geology and lithological succession of the coal deposit consists of Lateritic copping at the top, loose sand/sandstone, mudstone, clay, shales and coal seams. Generally, the materials are loose, unconsolidated and under heavy loads like the movement of trailers, trucks the sediments becomes plastic and can fail in terms of landslides and cracking of the ground as being witness now.

Ukomu Igala Organization Lokoja Chapter has elected New Executive Officers  to run it's affairs for the next years with a call to be united for the progress of the organization.
