Henry Adetayo Foundation Appreciates Governor Ododo, Kogi State Government for Honouring Education Intervention at Okeagi

The Henry Adetayo Foundation has expressed profound appreciation to the Kogi State Government and the Executive Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the honour, recognition and overwhelming support accorded the foundation following its landmark intervention at the Local Government Secondary School, Okeagi.

The foundation described the presence of the State Government at the handing-over ceremony, alongside the high-level representation of Governor Ododo by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, as a remarkable gesture that gave added significance to an intervention conceived as a lasting tribute to the memory and ideals of the late Henry Adetayo.

According to the foundation Chairperson Mrs Christiana Omowumi Arayeigbemi, Governor Ododo's commendation of the intervention as a major investment in the future of Okeagi and his recognition of the foundation's contribution to education have further strengthened its conviction that meaningful development is best achieved when government, communities, philanthropists and other stakeholders work together.

The foundation particularly expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for not only acknowledging the transformation of the school but also demonstrating practical commitment to sustaining and expanding the gains of the intervention through additional government support.

She noted with deep appreciation the Governor's directives for the Kogi State Government to take over the payment of PTA teachers' salaries at the school, provide digital learning facilities and educational materials, and support the installation of a solar inverter and provision of 25 computers to enhance teaching, learning and digital literacy.

The foundation also welcomed the Governor's commitment to constructing a perimeter fence around the school, describing the gesture as a significant demonstration that the State Government places premium value on the protection of both the students and the infrastructure provided through the intervention.

The Henry Adetayo Foundation said the government's response had transformed what began as a private philanthropic intervention into a broader partnership for sustainable educational development, particularly through the State's School Adoption and Mentorship Programme.

The foundation commended Governor Ododo for creating an enabling environment in which individuals and organisations can contribute meaningfully to the development of Kogi State without political barriers, stressing that his administration's willingness to complement private efforts was a powerful encouragement to philanthropists and community development advocates.

Mrs Christiana also expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones and other Government Dignitaries, for representing the Governor and their support and collaboration throughout the process.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Henry Adetayo Foundation, Mrs. C.O. Arayeigbemi, reiterated that the project was undertaken in honour of her late husband, whose deep belief in education inspired the family to establish a legacy capable of impacting generations.

She said the family was particularly encouraged that the State Government had embraced the vision behind the project and was prepared to build upon it, adding that the ultimate reward for the foundation would be to see the school produce young people who would become responsible, educated and productive citizens.

The foundation equally thanked the students of Okeagi Secondary School and the entire community for their touching appreciation and promised to remain encouraged by their renewed hope, commitment and determination to make proper use of the facilities provided.
