OSUN ELECTION: LESSONS FOR THE APC ON GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION AND REWARDING COMMITMENT AHEAD OF 2027

The recently concluded elections in Osun State, widely adjudged to have been largely peaceful, offer important lessons for the All Progressives Congress, APC, as we work to consolidate and sustain the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR ahead of 2027.

Every election is won at the grassroots. It is the commitment of party members at the Ward, LGA, and State levels - those who mobilize voters, engage communities, and defend party ideals - that forms the backbone of any political victory.

For a party to remain strong and competitive, it must have clear mechanisms for recognizing loyalty, commitment, and service. When members who have worked consistently for the party over time feel overlooked, while new entrants are quickly elevated, it can affect morale and reduce the energy needed for sustained mobilization.

The Osun experience should therefore, serve as a timely reminder for the APC to re-examine our internal processes. This is not a call for division. It is a call for fairness, inclusion, and stronger party management.

Moving forward, the APC must prioritize three (3) key areas:

1. Grassroots Mobilization and Sensitization

Every state chapter of the APC must invest in continuous engagement with communities. Elections are not won only during campaigns. They are won through year-round presence, listening, and service delivery at the base.

2. Recognition and Reward for Commitment

We must identify and appreciate loyal members and mobilizers who have sacrificed for the party. A transparent system that rewards hard work and results will motivate more members to give their best. Rewarding diligence is not favoritism; it is good management.

3. Internal Cohesion and Conflict Resolution

Differences are normal in any large political family. What matters is how we manage them. We need stronger channels for dialogue, reconciliation, and integration so that all members feel valued and heard.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate for 2027 will require a united, motivated, and responsive party structure. That structure begins from the grassroots upward.

The time to act is now. Let us learn from Osun, re-strategize, and build a party where loyalty is recognized, commitment is rewarded, and every member feels they have a stake in our collective success.

A stronger APC at the base means a stronger Nigeria for all.
